REMEMBER THESE 6 POINTS WHEN YOU OWN A CUSTOM BUILD DRONE
Endurance test
Check the flight time of the drone. Ensure that your battery gives flight time proportional to the load you use. Remember, you should have thrust at least 2x the total weight of the drone for stable flight. More the thrust to weight ratio, more the sensitivity and stability...
Battery test
Check the size of the battery. If the battery is bulged, then it means that the battery was overcharged or shorted. (CAUTION: Improper charge and discharge of battery may lead to explosion). It reduces the cycle of the battery. Usually, lipo batteries have a lifetime of 200 to 300 cycles. ( 1 cycle = 1 complete charge and discharge of the battery)..
Motor test
In the case of the brushless motor, ensure that the alignment of the magnet is perfect in their position. Imperfect alignment leads to overheating of the motor. In the case of core less motor, no probs. Simply throw it away :-P..
ESC test
Check the temperature of the ESC each time after a flight. If you find a difference, smell it and remove the odd one out....
Motor to propeller
Usually, for low kV motors, the propeller size should be maximum and for high kV motors - vice verse. low kV motors have less rpm but more torque and high kV motors have more rpm and less torque. Check whether this combination is followed..
Flight controller
Ensure that the alignment of the flight controller is perfect. Lock the external GPS , so that the GPS module doesn't tilt because of vibration. Ensure that the flight controller doesn't have any extra protection. This may disturb some inbuilt sensors like barometer , accelerometer etc..
